GiftGiftGift started as a side project to solve a simple problem: coordinating group gifts without ruining surprises. We're a small team, and we're committed to handling your data the right way. We collect only what's necessary, we're transparent about how we use it, and we don't do anything creepy with it.

- Email addresses (required for login and list invitations)
- Display names (optional, for identification within lists)
List Content
- Gift list titles and descriptions
- Gift ideas, including titles and notes
- Links to products you add
Technical Data
- Session tokens (to keep you logged in)
We do not collect browsing history, location data, or information from other websites.
How We Use Your Data
To Provide the Service
Your email authenticates you and lets us send list invitations. Your list data powers the lists themselves. The redaction feature ensures gift surprises stay hidden from recipients.
Email Communications
Transactional Emails
We send essential emails for account functionality: login verification codes, list invitations, and critical account notifications. These are necessary for the service to work and cannot be disabled while you have an account.
Product Updates (Opt-in)
You can choose to receive occasional emails about product updates, the dev journey, and fun extras. This is strictly opt-in: we never subscribe you automatically. You can subscribe from your dashboard or settings, and unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email or from your settings.
What We Store
- Whether you've opted in to product updates
- When and how you opted in (for consent records)
- A unique unsubscribe token for one-click unsubscribe
- When you unsubscribed (if applicable)
Email Provider
We use Resend to send emails. They process your email address to deliver messages on our behalf. Our database is the source of truth for your subscription preferences, not the email provider.
How We Monetize
GiftGiftGift is free, supported by affiliate commissions.
User-Added Links
When you add a product link, we may convert it to an affiliate link. If you purchase through it, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
Product Suggestions
For gift ideas without links, we may add product suggestions labeled as "Ad" or "Suggested." These contain affiliate links. You're never required to use them. They're just there to help.
We don't run banner ads, sell your data, or share it with ad networks.
Data Sharing
We don't sell or rent your personal information.
We use third-party services to operate GiftGiftGift (hosting, email delivery, database). These providers access only the data necessary to perform their functions.
Security
We implement reasonable measures to protect your data:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all data transmission
- Secure database storage
- Separation of personal identifiers from list content in our internal tools
No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously.
Deleting Your Data
You can delete any list you own at any time. You can delete your account, and your account data will be deleted.
Children's Privacy
GiftGiftGift is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll post a notice on our website. Continued use of GiftGiftGift after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
